On the next Rules Free Radio with Steve Caplan, we’ll new music from Tommy Prine, Corvair, Albert Hammond Jr., The Clientele, Lloyd Cole, Cory Hanson, Brigid Mae Power, Decisive Pink, and Portugal, The Man. Last week marked the 57th anniversary of the release of Freak Out by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. We’ll hear a couple of songs from that album in a set of Psychedelic music old and new.
In the last hour, we’ll check out some jazz releases. A new extensive collection of Charles Mingus during the 1970s, and we’ll hear a piece by pianist, and bandleader Elmo Hope, who would have turned 100 last week. Also, a new release by classical pianist Shani Diluka, doing the music of contemporary non-classical composers and artists. And mixed in throughout there will be lots of classics including The Merseys, The Stranglers, Split Enz, Yaz, Al Kooper, Leo Kottke, Davy Graham, Bob Dylan, Thee Midniters, Marvin Gaye, and a bunch more.
