Your host is Steve Caplan with three hours of long uninterrupted music sets segued to perfection! A typical show may include all manner of Rock, Jazz, Blues, R&B/Soul, Singer-songwriters, Folk, Latin, Afropop, Middle Eastern, and just about everything in between. Anything that fits to create a musical experience that’s more than the sum of its parts. It’s a show for the musically diverse, curious, and open-minded. You’ll hear brand new artists, new music from old artists, obscure chestnuts, and classics. The unexpected, the obvious, and the “oh wow” factor abound!

Tuesdays 2pm – 5pm  EST Rules Free Radio With Steve  Caplan

n the next Rules Free Radio with Steve Caplan, we’ll focus on four people we lost recently. They each had a significant role in music from four different areas. Jimmy Sohns was the singer in a legendary 60s garage band, The Shadows of Knight. If his name or the band aren’t familiar you certainly know their anthemic definitive version of Van Morrison’s Gloria. We’ll hear a set of 60s garage band music including several songs by The Shadows of Knight.

Legendary Motown songwriter Lamont Dozier wrote dozens of songs and many hits for a variety of Motown artists as part of the songwriting team Holland Dozier Holland. We’ll hear some of those iconic hits and we’ll mix in a few you may not have heard.

We’ll finish with two women vocalists from Australia. We all know what a hugely successful artist Olivia Newton-John was starting in the 70s. But rather than focus on the popular hits, I found some early songs written by singer-songwriters you know. And we’ll wrap things up with a tribute to the late Judith Durham, singer for the 60s Folk-Pop group The Seekers. They were the first group from Australia to make it big in England and the US. We’ll hear some of the hits you’re sure to know plus some fine lesser known tunes including a couple from her solo period.

All this plus new music by Mad Mojo Jett, Lera Lynn, Spring Summer, Traams, Nina Nastasia, and Florist. We’ll start with Andrea Gillis who just released a cover of an early J Geils Band tune, which will kick off a set of the originals of covers that the J Geils Band recorded. It all starts Tuesday afternoon at 2 on The Bombshellradio.com!
