In the mid 1980s to the early 90s the fresh sound of New Jack Swing introduced a funky fusion of rap, dance-pop and R&B with trace amounts of disco, soul and rock & roll.
Pioneered by the American composers, record producers and instrumentalists Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle who fused hip hop and R&B in their production work with many top artists and groups to create the sound which has heavily influenced modern-day R&B and the Hip-Hop fusion of today.
‘A New Jack Swing Thing’ has some favourite tracks from an era where the fresh style of blending the sweet melodies and big beats, bridged the gap between singers and rappers. A fusion that would change pop music/hip-hop music forever.
Have fun!
